Programs

One way to navigate life is by trying to control external circumstances—what we do, who we do it with, and how events unfold. This strategy promises continuous effort and endless frustration. No matter how hard we try, we never reach our goal. Along the way, our health and relationships suffer, our stress levels increase, and our sense of satisfaction declines.

Another option is to learn to meet whatever arises—pleasant and unpleasant experience alike—with composure, courage and compassion. Rather than perpetually striving to get things lined up just right, and reacting badly when things go wrong, we can learn to pause, consider and respond with thoughtful, effective action.

Most training programs offer ideas and techniques for helping us attain goals. Our programs are rooted in the understanding that true satisfaction comes less from achieving goals and more from the ability to disengage from reactivity and wholeheartedly engage with people and events.

Mindfulness Training & Retreats

Recent research in neuroscience shows that paying attention is a skill that can be actively cultivated and which, once developed, vastly improves the quality of our life.

Mindfulness is a rigorous, 2,500 year old method for training the attention. Our Mindfulness classes, workshops and retreats offer clear, pragmatic instruction for unhooking from reactive patterns, becoming more focused and present moment-to-moment, and learning to balance multiple tasks, skillfully manage conflict and discover choices we didn't know were possible.
